What are the costs associated with operating a franchise?

Operating a franchise involves the startup costs, including the initial franchise fee, and additional costs like construction, equipment purchases, signage, and working capital. Ongoing costs to operate a franchise include costs like royalty fees, brand fund contributions, rent, labor, utilities, and local marketing. The range of our typical new school development in 2023 was between $441,000 and $593,970. The detail and breakdown of these costs are detailed in both the  Franchise Information Report and in Item 7 of our FDD will detail the estimated costs associated with opening and operating a School of Rock.

In addition to the initial start-up fees detailed in Item 7 of the FDD, one must also consider the working capital necessary during the period from opening your doors until you reach your break-even point. This timeline varies from school to school and is governed primarily by early ramp-up of student enrollment.

How does a franchise make money?

A franchisee makes money by generating revenue through sales of products or services. The franchisee invests in the franchise opportunity, follows the established business model, and leverages the brand, support, and training provided by the franchisor. Profits are generated after deducting operating expenses, including royalties, marketing fees, rent, staff wages, and other relevant costs. The franchisee's success depends on effective management, adherence to the franchisor's guidelines, and local market conditions.
